What are the best racing games you can play today? When you think about racing games, you might come up with a few popular titles that you have played in the past. Thing is that there are a lot of awesome games you can play for each platform. Racing games for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 4. Why would you even want to play different racing games, they are all basically the same right? Going round and round in circles with no more to it than trying to finish first. That is where you are absolutely wrong! Like every gaming genre out there like open world games, city builders or strategy games, racing games has a lot to offer in 2019. All of them has something that makes them unique from each other and fun to play. It gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself to go faster and become a better racer, you know what they say… If you didn’t crash, you weren’t going fast enough! So I made a list for 19 of the top racing games you can play in 2019, whether it’s the regular track racing, going off-road or crashing your way to victory, you’ll likely find something that suits you. The Best Racing Games
1. Need for Speed Payback
Need for Speed is not by any means the perfect racing game with the best graphics, physics or anything like that. So why is it at the top? So I made it nr 1 on my list, because you have probably played a Need for Speed title sometime during the last 20 years. Whether it was Hot Pursuit III in the 90’s or the Most Wanted series more recently, NFS is one of the oldest racing gaming series out there. Need for Speed Payback is the 23rd installment in the series and is available on PC, Xbox and Playstation. Like most NFS games, Payback has a rich storyline which combines fun and adrenaline pumping racing missions. It is set in an open world and you have a choice to play with 3 different characters, each with unique skills and traits. The story have a lot of good plots and surprises in store, I’ll let you see for yourself. Need for Speed Payback is the perfect racing game if you want to relax and have a lot of fun.
2. Forza Horizon 3 & Horizon 4
The Forza Horizon Series is the ultimate open world racing experience you will find at the moment. With great visuals, awesome cars and just a really beautiful world to drive through. What makes each Forza Horizon title unique, is the fact that it takes place at totally different locations which keep the curiosity going. Forza Horizon 4 launched in October 2018 and is definitely be one of the best racing games for 2018, so don’t miss it! It is set in a fictional version of Great Britain and have a dynamic weather system, meaning summers, winters, springs and autumns. You will have the ability to choose from 450 licensed vehicles, from super cars to weird and funny looking machines. Players also have the opportunity to buy houses in the game that unlock certain perks cars and other bonuses. But if you haven’t played Forza Horizon 3, make sure to give it a try as the open world experience will be unique for each game. Forza Horizon 3 took place in the Australian landscapes with forest like areas, open grass plains and a large desert area with its red sand. You are the star that must race in several events to promote the Horizon Festival, gain more followers and grow the event. There are a lot of different races like sprints, circuits, unique events and more. The best is that you can also create your own, with whatever car you want to drive. Forza Horizon finds the perfect balance between simulation racing games and arcade racing games, where you can configure everything that is best for your play style. Perfect for either a controller or steering wheel. It is available only for Xbox and Windows 10, so unfortunately not for Playstation. 3. Forza Motorsport 7
Forza Motorsport 7 is basically the same game as Forza Horizon 3, with similar graphics, physics and other dynamics. So what’s the difference? No open world, no free roam, no Sunday afternoon drives to look at beautiful scenery. Nope it’s all racing, tournaments and championships on the world’s most favourite racing tracks!!! The Forza Motorsport series is perfect if you love track racing in a variety of different cars and classes. Whether you compete in open wheel championships or endurance racing, the feeling of being a race driver is awesome. You will love it if you’re either a hardcore or just the casual racer, with difficulty settings to make the game fun yet challenging. The physics and realism is also not too difficult to master, but yet it feels real enough to not be a full on arcade racing style game. So are you ready to start your racing career?
4. Gran Turismo Sport Gran Turismo sport is basically the equivalent of Forza Motorsport 7, the only difference being that it’s exclusive to PlayStation 4. Gran Turismo has found the perfect balance between being a racing simulator game and being an arcade style racing game. It features two modes namely “Sport mode” and “Arcade mode”. You can also play online mode to race against people around the world or do multiplayer with your friends. Gran Turismo sport has a wide variety of cars making it one of the best racing games for PlayStation and you will have many awesome racing tracks to choose from. This game is perfect for someone who loves to do hardcore track racing and enjoy the thrill of having a career as a racing driver. 5. The Crew 2 Is it a car, is it a boat, is it a plane or is it a motorbike? The Crew 2 kicked it up a notch by giving the player the ability to play with a variety of vehicles. The Crew 2 is an open world racing where you find yourself with a miniature version of the whole USA. You can explore the whole America which is split up in 5 regions, The Midwest, East Coast, The South, Mountain States, and West Coast. What makes the game a special racing game is that it has a gripping and interesting storyline that will take you on an adventure and some wild rides. The main story starts where you are running away from the police and when you finally lose their tail, you meet up with a friend at your brother’s motor club. Taking your brother to meet someone, something tragic happens where you got arrested and sent to prison for 5 years. When you finally came out, the hunt start and the story takes you over the whole of America. You are looking for the guy that killed your brother that night! Racing and infiltrating different criminal groups to get information is also an interesting part of the game. If you’re looking for a racing game with an excellent story to go with it the, The Crew 2 is definitely something you should check out.
